Hi, I’m Kymberly. Welcome to Thrifty Cakes! I am a hobby baker and cake designer living on a small farm nestled in the mountains of Western North Carolina. Outside of designing cakes, I am a wife, a mom, and an elementary school teacher.

Thrifty Cakes was created for the busy, thrifty cake decorator looking for some time and money saving cake hacks that will leave you with beautiful cakes that taste delicious!  If you’re anything like me, you have:

  • Been overwhelmed by all of the cake decorating supplies
  • Felt unsure of which items you should purchase first or what you actually need
  • Searched for bargain cake supplies that are also good quality
  • Wished for easier and quicker recipes
  • Dreamed of carving out more time for family without sacrificing your cake production goals

If any of these things sound like you, you are in the right place!

Bargain hunting has always been a thrill for me. When I started designing and decorating cakes, I realized that this new found hobby can be very expensive. How could I make cakes that look and taste professional, without breaking the bank? My natural tendency to avoid spending excess money at all costs pushed me to come up with some creative solutions that helped save me, not only money, but precious time!

“How could I make cakes that look and taste professional, without breaking the bank?”

After a year of creatively avoiding emptying my walllet and creating beautiful cake designs on a dime, I realized that I couldn’t keep these hacks all to myself. I know that these tips and tricks would be helpful for other bakers and cake artistis that are looking for ways to save time and money.  So, I set out to start a blog to share my tips and tricks and that’s how Thrifty Cakes was born.
